Impressive New Weight Loss Breakthrough that Really Works
We have discovered a new and effective treatment for weight management and obesity associated with type 2 diabetes. Two tablets taken with regular meals is sufficient to significantly reduce blood cholesterol and triglycerides as well as body weight by about 1-1½ pounds per week. Invented by two university professors this all natural dietary fiber has no known side effects.
(PRWEB) September 20, 2005 -- A new discovery is available for the first time that uses a new and different approach to weight loss that can work for most people without a change in diet.
More Americans are overweight than ever before and this is causing an increase in health problems in the US population. Being obese can take years off your life and the younger you are the more years you lose according to researchers from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. More and more young people are facing weight loss issues that will have health consequences in the future.
Complications from obesity are now well known with increased risk of developing many problems including diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke. Weight loss and prevention of diabetes go hand in hand.
When Dr. George Grunberger founded his diabetes research institute in 2002 one of his stated goals was to bring new treatments to people with diabetes and to help eradicate the disease. After a long career in research with the National Institute of Health and continuing research and teaching at Wayne State University and the Detroit Medical Center he works toward that goal every day seeing patients at the Grunberger Diabetes Institute.
An exciting new addition to his institute, located at 43494 Woodward Avenue in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan is the availability of a new and different weight loss discovery. Invented by two professors from Wayne State University, in Detroit, this remarkable product has the ability to remove 500 calories of fat a day from the typical American diet. Joe Artiss, PhD., one of the two inventors said “It’s a Fat Binding Complexer, so we called it FBCx. It converts fat in the diet to a non digestible complex that just passes through.”
Dr Grunberger first heard about this exciting discovery when he was asked to do a study on patients with diabetes, using FBCx and a placebo, in a double blind study format. This means neither Dr. Grunberger nor his patients knew who was getting the product or a harmless substitute. Recently, after peer review, the results of the study were presented at the Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association annual meeting in San Diego.
The important results of the study showed that FBCx was effective in reducing and/or maintaining body weight in patients with type 2 diabetes. It was easily incorporated into diabetes management regimen and was shown to be effective in reducing blood lipid levels in patients with hypertriglyceridemia. It lowered fat in the blood.
Dr. Grunberger states that: “About 90% of people with type 2 diabetes are obese and obesity is the number two preventable cause of death in the US.” Until this new discovery, FBCx, “There was no known effective way to keep weight off.”
Cathy Jen, PhD is the co-discoverer along with Dr. Artiss. Dr. Jen states: “This is an all natural soluble fiber derived from corn. One gram of this fiber binds nine grams of fat in the diet.” Dr. Artiss adds that they recently received their first United States patent for the discovery and that they now have all required Federal approvals so the product is available for the first time. FBCx is manufactured in the US.
In addition to the study on people with diabetes, the new invention has been studied in quite a number of individuals that do not have diabetes and seems to work best in some of the individuals who need it the most. In addition to their weight loss study subjects experienced a significant lowering of their triglycerides as well as both their total and LDL or “bad” cholesterol. Generally the heaviest people lost the most weight. Weight loss up to 40 pounds has been reported.
“One of the first people we tried it on is an engineering contractor in his fifties who was morbidly overweight.” Said Artiss: “He lost weight immediately, has lost a total of 42 pounds so far and is still losing weight. He even had dramatic improvements in blood pressure, cholesterol and triglycerides with no change in diet and no side effects.”
Drs. Grunberger, Artiss and Jen were excited to present the results at the American Diabetes Conference. The response was really encouraging said Artiss. “Doctors and research scientists were lined up at our booth, at times, for the latest information. There is really too much information to explain in detail here but people can find more at the website we set up: www.artjen.net.”
Since the founding of the Grunberger Diabetes Institute this is the first time Dr. Grunberger even considered making a product of this nature available in his office. “We try to employ a multi disciplinary approach and not just write a prescription. We treat the whole patient including lifestyle, diet, exercise and education. And of course we have our ongoing research including two more studies in development to look at other aspects of FBCx.”
Dr. Grunberger says: “Our philosophy is to do all we can to treat and prevent diabetes and the use of FBCx in body weight management is an important tool to help people with diabetes and others. Effective management of body weight is really important for folks with diabetes and may actually delay or even prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes in some high-risk individuals.”
After long and distinguished careers in research and teaching Drs. Artiss and Jen are enjoying the accolades received from grateful weight loss subjects. “We feel really good when we can help our research subjects and customers lose weight and it’s nice to know we’re doing some good.”
